My Story...
I have known I wanted to become a news reporter since I was 16 years old. The news “bug” definitely bit me and has never let go! I thrive in a fast-paced environment and produce my best work. One of my strengths is a keen curiosity to know what is going on in the news at any given moment. While some people are sports fans, I am an avid news junkie and won’t rest until I know everything about the story I am researching. I am eager to take constructive criticism, knowing the only way to better myself is to always be open to learning more. Whether it's hard news or fluffy features, I belong in this business.
A little more about me...
I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from The University of Georgia, where I focused on Digital and Broadcast News, and minored in Sociology.
Long before I began my studies, I knew I had a knack for journalism. During high school I uncovered a novel being written about my late grandfather. And after my own investigation, I was able to correct some facts about him for the author. This led to the publishing of Command Influence, the story of my grandfather's journey as a Second Lieutenant during the Korean War.
That experience led me to pursue my passion for investigative reporting at the University of Georgia's Grady College of Journalism. While attending UGA I was an active contributor to the local student run news organization, Grady Newsource. During my time with Newsource, I not only reported but also produced, anchored, and was involved in the technical work it takes to create a full half hour episode.
The summer leading into my senior year at UGA, I was fortunate enough to earn an internship with Fox 5 News in Atlanta, GA. There I worked closely with the investigative team to help produce their stories. This glimpse into the inner workings of an experienced investigative reporting team only fueled my interest.
After graduating in May 2014, I relocated from my native Marietta to Macon.
When I'm not bringing the news to Central Georgia, I enjoy kayaking, lake fishing, hanging out with my family, hiking mountains all throughout Georgia, and healthy cooking using organic ingredients!
